Racetrack Playa is a seasonally dry lake (playa) in the United States located north of the Panamint Mountains in Death Valley National Park, California.
The Racetrack Playa, or The Racetrack, is known for an interesting geological phenomenon ,The Sailing stones – stones moving along the dried bottom.A gravel road runs along the western shore, on which there is parking with explanatory signs. Camping near Racetrack Playa is only allowed on the north and south sides.

- Moving rocks on Racetrack Playa : Moving rocks are a geological phenomenon found on the dry Lake Racetrack Playa in Death Valley , move slowly along the clay bottom of the lake, as evidenced by the long footprints left behind them,The natives of the area considered that they were driven by spirits. Early explorers and gold prospectors who observed the phenomenon put it down to an imprecise “earth’s magnetic field” or some other type of pseudoscientific force. It has also been hinted at times that they are merely the work of pranksters.
