Airbnb’s most popular cities, based on the demand they record, revealed Airbnb through its Travel Trends list in 2018, including cities in the US, Europe and Asia. As more and more travelers choose to live as locals knowing from the inside the culture and the traditions of the destinations they visit, the famous platform gains popularity in hotel units in different cities of the world and is able to predict the cities to be found at the heart of the tourist interest for the new year.
In 2018, cities such as Paris, New York and London star in the list of cities with the most reservations. However, travelers’ preferences seem to be earning and destinations that were less popular in the past such as Miami and Lisbon. According to Airbnb, the sharing economy continues to flourish by helping people create new economic opportunities for themselves and for the communities they live in. “With 97% of residence fees in the hands of hosts and 42% of visitors’ spending being distributed to their neighborhoods, the economic impact of housing distribution may be important for emerging travel destinations.”
