Arher sand dunes located in Socotra , an island of Yemen in the northwest Indian Ocean, in the Arabian Sea.

The island is part of the UNESCO “Sokotra Archipelago” world natural heritage site. Some parts of the coast are surrounded by dunes, which are among the largest coastal dunes in the world. Arher is located on the north-east shore of Socotra ,Although the dunes look quite flat from the road, only a hardy person can climb to the very top – walking on the loose sand is difficult and tiring. The ascent takes more than an hour.
