Trosa is a small coastal town in the Swedish province of Södermanland County and the historical province of Södermanland.
The city is the capital of the municipality of the same name and lies at the mouth of the Trosaån River into the Baltic Sea. The city was already an important trading center at the beginning of the 15th century and was granted city rights by King Charles VIII in 1454.Trosa was a fishing center until the end of the 19th century. Afterwards it became increasingly known as a summer town and seaside resort.Trosa has attracted many artists and writers over the years.
