Claddagh is a seaside area located in the western part of of Galway city ,a city in the West of Ireland.
Claddagh was once a fishing village situated to the west of Galway city centre, just outside the old city walls, where the River Corrib interconnects with Galway Bay.
During the 19th century Claddagh attracted many visitors, including writers who claimed its fame. Associated with this town is the Claddagh ring, with its shape of two hands holding a heart on which there is a crown, very popular as a friendship or wedding ring as it is a symbol of love, friendship and loyalty.
