The Urban Park of the Palmenti is a small place with the typical configuration of large medieval settlements and fortifications.Located on the outskirts of the town of Pietragalla, a town and comune in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata.
This park is the site where still today the grapes are vinified, which are poured from the upper part of the millstone. The park consists of about 200 millstones that were used for the production of wine. Despite several structures being ruined, it is still a magical place. The structures are underground caves carved into the sandstone. It looks like a hobbit village..

The site can always be visited, open and accessible without any entrance ticket, it is worth seeing.

Highlights :
- The main feature of this Urban Park is first and foremost the fact that they were built in the earth (like caves) and subsequently the front stone facade was built
- They were fundamental structures for the local farmers because it was there that the local wine was produced that created economy in the 70s!
- The smaller one was used for pressing grapes and was connected to another larger and deeper one, used for the fermentation of the must. The small window above the lintel was used to release the carbon dioxide that forms during this phase.
- The tanks were generally two or four and were different for red wine and white wine.
