The White Desert (Es-Sahra El-Beida). The White Desert is located 45 km north of Farafra, Farafra  is an oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt.  The desert has a creamy white color – a massive chalk rock formed as a result of periodic sandstorms in the area.

The White Desert north of the Farafra oasis is particularly impressive. Limestone formations of huge monoliths stimulate the desert visitor’s imagination and are reminiscent of a stone camel, a mushroom, a hare or a cup. The findings on the ground indicate that there was once an ocean floor here. Much of the White desert is only accessible by off-road vehicles.
The Farafra desert is a place typically visited by some schools in Egypt, and is a popular area with campers.

  • White Desert National Park : The White Desert Reserve is located in Egypt, 45 kilometers  to the north of the Farafra Oasis in the New Valley Governorate, about 500 kilometers from Cairo. It was declared a nature reserve in 2002 and has a total area of ​​3010 square kilometers.
