Antelope Canyon is a canyon located in northern Arizona, near the city of Page in the southwestern United States.
Antelope Canyon is the most visited slot canyon in the southwestern United States. It consists of the Upper Antelope Canyon and the Lower Antelope Canyon and is located near Page, Arizona. It was formed by Antelope Creek, an approximately 30 km long stream that only rarely carries water after heavy rain in the area of origin in the Mormon Ridges. The creek and its canyons run roughly parallel to the Rocky Mountains from south-southeast to north-northwest in a rift direction common on the Colorado Plateau.
The best time to visit is in spring and autumn: March – April and October – November. At this time, the sun’s rays penetrate to the very bottom and the canyons look as if a bright light is burning inside a dark palace. In winter, the lighting in the canyons is quite weak – it is quite gloomy inside, with deep shadows and flat topography. For winter photography, it is advisable to install additional lighting.
Antelope Canyon is famous among photographers all over the world because of the bizarre shape of the rocks, illuminated by a delightful magical light , make it one of the places in the world that you absolutely must photograph.
