Babcock State Park is a park in the United States. Babcock State Park is located in Fayette County and the state of West Virginia, in the eastern part of the country, 400 km west of the capital city of Washington, D.C. 531 meters above sea level. Babcock State Park is located along the New River River Gorge The highest area is 813 meters and 1.0 km south of Babcock State Park. State Park has a small population.The largest town is Oak Hill, 15.7 km west of Babcock State Park.

The park was named after Edward Woes Babcock, the mayor of Pittsburgh. The mill was assembled in 1976 from parts of three other mills in West Virginia. It is an  fully functional replica of the original Cooper’s Mill, which was nearby.Today the Mill provides freshly ground cornmeal, which park guests may purchase depending on availability and stream conditions.

Access : Coordinates: 37.988333, -80.943889 / Address: 486 Babcock Road, Clifftop,WV 25831 / From Route 19, exit at Route 60-Midland Trail, 5 miles North of the New River Gorge Bridge. At the end of the ramp, turn East. Follow 60 eastward, until it hooks up with Route 41 South. After few miles will bring you to the park’s main entrance .

  • The flour mill : Located next to the park, the flour mill on the Glade Creek River is one of the state’s most frequently photographed tourist destinations.Photographers and  artists capturing the beauty of this iconic ,  living monument to the over 500 mills which thrived in West Virginia at the turn of the century.
  • Cabins : At Babcock may select from among 13 standard log cabins located by Glade Creek,five standard cabins,eight bungalow cabins and two deluxe handicap accessible cabins,All cabins feature electric lighting, modern appliances, and are completely equipped for housekeeping including cooking utensils, dishes, flatware, bed linens, and towels.
  • Camping : Babcock offers a 52-unit campground ,includes 4 handicap accessible sites, complete with tent or trailer campsites, picnic tables, ground grills and a central bathhouse with toilet facilities, hot showers and coin-operated washers and dryers.

Two potable water fill-up stations and two sewage dump stations are available for campers and RV’s. Only one tent or trailer is allowed per site. Babcock also offers a group tent camping area that can accommodate up to 20 tents and features a covered shelter with nine picnic tables, electric and a covered stone fireplace.

Note  : Maximum length of stay is 14 nights, May 1 through Labor Day /  Entry fees : Fees- Permits: No / First-time visitors should definitely run by Park Headquarters for info.

Facilities : The park has 28 booths, 52 campsites, a gift shop, More than 20 miles of hiking trails, volleyball and basketball courts, a tennis court, a swimming pool, a jet ski rental point, picnic and fishing places, restrooms , a horse and pony rental point. At the mill they sell local products – corn and buckwheat flour.

Note : At the Glade Creek Grist Mill, drone use is permitted from 1–3 p.m., daily. / Camping is prohibited except at numbered sites in areas designated for camping.
