The Crno jezero (“Black Lake”) is a glacial lake on Mount Durmitor in the municipality of Zabljak ,in northern Montenegro.
The Crno jezero lies at an altitude of 1416 m , at the foot of the Međed, a mountain peak of the Durmitor massif. It occupies an area of around 500 hectares. The lake is easily accessible and can be reached on foot from the center of Žabljak. An approximately 3.5 km long path circles the entire lake and is a popular destination for those seeking relaxation and hikers. Crno jezero is the starting point for numerous hiking trails into the Durmitor massif and the smaller lakes around Žabljak. Set back from the shore of the lake is a restaurant serving traditional local cuisine.
