Klis Fortress is a medieval fortification located near the town of Split, in central Dalmatia, Croatia.
The fortress is located above a village of the same name, 11 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, in a pass that separates the Mosor and Kozjak mountains, at an altitude of 360 meters, northeast of Split in Croatia. Due to its strategic location, the fort is considered one of the most important forts in the region.
Klis was used as a location for the fictional city of Meereen in the HBO series Game of Thrones.
Klis Fortress has been developed as a visitor attraction , there is a museum in the fortress, where military armor, weapons, traditional uniforms are exhibited.
