Borobudur is a Buddhist temple complex in Magelang, around 25 kilometers northwest of Yogyakarta on the island of Java in Indonesia.
The monument consists of nine tiers, six square and three circular, with a central dome at the top. The temple is decorated with 2,627 reliefs and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each of which is inside a perforated stupa. It is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, as well as one of the most important Buddhist monuments worldwide.
