Fort Moultrie is a series of citadels on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina – U.S.A,, built to protect the city of Charleston. The first fort, built of palmetto logs, inspired South Carolina’s flag and nickname (Palmetto State).
Its name is a tribute to the commander of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, General William Moultrie. Fort Moultrie is the only area of the National Parks Service, where the entire history of the 171-year coastline defense (1776-1947) can be traced.

Hours of Operation : Daily, 9am-5pm – Days and Holidays Closed , New Year’s, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Admissions : $7 Per Person, Youth 15 Years and Younger Free
