The frigate Jylland is a historic wooden ship lying in a dry dock in the museum harbor in Ebeltoft ,near Aarhus in Denmark.
The HDMS Jylland is a Niels Juel-class screw-propelled steam warship of the Royal Danish Navy. It is a 44-gun frigate rigged as a three-mast square which took part in the Battle of Heligoland.
“Nils Juel”, “Zelland” and “Jylland” entered service during the era of the technological revolution, when battleships began to gradually replace wooden ships.
In light of these events, the frigate Jylland became a symbol of a passing era. This, however, did not stop her from becoming the fastest ship in the fleet, with a top speed of 14 knots, winning the race at Moen in July 1864.
The HDMS Jylland is the only screw-propelled steam frigate and sail ship that has survived to this day, belonging to the Royal Danish Navy. She is currently exhibited as a museum ship.
