The Île de Cavallo is an island of the Îles Lavezzi, an archipelago consisting of around 100 islands and granite rocks in the Strait of Bonifacio between Corsica and Sardinia.

when the Marquis Guido della Rosa, of Parma, landed in 1947 on the island of Cavallo, the largest of the Lavezzi, it was love at first sight. the forgotten archipelago will undergo a first transformation with the interest shown in it by Jean Castel, a key figure in Parisian nights. At the beginning of the 70s, the first remarkable developments appeared which gave a real boost to this piece of land lost in the sea: a hotel, a restaurant, bungalows as well as a landing strip to quickly access the island from the largest European capitals.

Cavallo then becomes and remains since the famous “island of billionaires”. The estate today benefits from a port of 450 rings and luxury buildings sold by apartments.

Access : Coordinates: 41.368333, 9.262222 / The island of Cavallo is part of the Lavezzi archipelago, in the mouth of Bonifacio (the strait between Corsica and Sardinia). It is located 2.3 km from the coast, east of Cape Sperone and the port of Piantarella, in the municipality of Bonifacio. It is the southernmost residential area of metropolitan France.

Highlights :

  •  The Île de Cavallo is privately owned.  The island, which is predominantly inhabited by billionaires, has an artificially created harbor and landing area for small aircraft.
  •  During the holiday season, a boat sails daily from the Corsican mainland (Piantarella) to the famous five-star hotel restaurant des Pecheurs. The crossing takes 10 minutes by private boat of the hotel, about 15 minutes by public boat, provided there are favorable winds. You can also take a helicopter or plane from Figari airport to the island.
  •  “The island of billionaires” : Since 1970, luxurious second homes have been built there, as well as a small airfield  , a port and a marina.

Note : The island of Cavallo is mostly privately owned, Cavallo is privately owned and has limited access to outsiders. Only bicycles and electric vehicles are allowed on the island.
