Why Mölle Should Be Your Next Scandinavian Escape
Picture this: white wooden houses painted in white with traditional red roofs which overlook the ever-changing ocean twirling and swooshing along its stone walls and sandy beaches. Welcome to Mölle (pronounced “MUR-leh”), a charming fishing village that feels like stepping into a Nordic fairy tale – but with way better hiking and surprisingly progressive history.
Nestled in Höganäs Municipality, Skåne County, this coastal gem punches way above its weight class. With just 715 residents, Mölle manages to pack in more natural beauty, outdoor adventures, and historical intrigue than towns ten times its size.
The Mölle Magic: What Makes This Place Special
Historic Charm Meets Modern Adventure
Originally a prosperous fishing community in the 19th century, the village is now a popular holiday destination, with many Swedes having holiday homes in the area. But here’s the kicker – Mölle was also one of Sweden’s first places where men and women could swim together. Scandalous for the 1800s, totally normal now (but still pretty cool history).
Location, Location, Location
Mölle sits at the gateway to the spectacular Kullaberg Nature Reserve, offering dramatic cliffs that rise over 180 m above the sea. You’re literally at the tip of one of Sweden’s most stunning peninsulas.
Epic Things to Do in Mölle

Beach Life & Swimming
Ransvik Beach: The most famous spot, and here’s why it’s legendary – try a midnight swim at Ransvik, a beach previously known for its “scandalous” mixed-gender bathing in the early 20th century. Today it’s just a beautiful, secluded beach perfect for swimming under the stars.
