Patan Durbar Square is located in the historic center of the city of Lalitpur , in central Nepal.
It is one of the three Durbar Squares located in the Kathmandu Valley, all three declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO .The square is a marvel of Newa architecture and is paved with red bricks. There are several temples and idols in the area and the main temples are aligned in front of the western facade of the palace. The entrance to the temples is towards the east, facing the palace. There was also once a bell located in the alignment of the main temples. There are also ancient Newari residences overlooking the square. There are various other temples around Durbar Square built by Newa. One of its attractions is the presence of the royal palace where the kings of the Malla dynasty resided.
