The Annapurna Circuit is a trekking route (long-distance hiking trail) around the Annapurna mountain range in the Nepalese Himalayas.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is world famous and legendary trek , about 20,000 mountain  enthusiasts from different countries take the route every year.
The route is popular among novice tourists, since it can be covered without spending the night in tents: tourists make day trips from one settlement to another,
staying overnight in guest houses (loggias), which are maintained and served by the local population.

Access : Coordinates: / Location : Nepal

Highlights :

  • The Annapurna Ring trek is deservedly recognized as one of the most beautiful and popular hiking routes not only in the Himalayas, but throughout the world.
  • The Annapurna Circuit leads around the Annapurna massif and is challenging due to the altitude at the culmination point, the Thorong La pass.
  • Besisahar village can be reached by road in seven hours from Kathmandu. The route passes through rice fields, subtropical forests, many waterfalls, giant rocks and various villages. The Annapurna Circuit has often been voted the best long distance trek in the world as it combines a wide variety of climate zones, starting from tropical at 600m to arctic at 5416m at La Thorong Pass.
  • The trek usually takes 15–20 days, starting from Kathmandu by bus to Besisahar and returning via the city of Pokhara. The path is of relatively moderate difficulty and during the hike the climber passes several hanging metal or wooden bridges. There are places to stay or for food and tea along the entire route.
  • A few years ago, a road for off-road vehicles to Jomsom-Muktinath was completed on the western side, which somewhat put the romantic isolation into perspective, despite the very little traffic. There is also a jeep track from Besisahar to Manang.
  • You will visit the highest pedestrian pass : The  Thorong La (5416m).
  • You will see : Lake Tilicho, the highest mountain in the world. Located at an altitude of 4949m.
  • You will see : the legendary peaks: Manaslu (8156m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Machapuchare (6196m).

Go next : Manang , a town in the Manang District of Nepal. / Gangapurna Lake is a glacial lake in Manang, Gandaki Province, Nepal.
