Ptuj is an ancient city of Slovenia. It is located on the Drava, downstream from Maribor, in the traditional region of Styria and in the Pannonian Plain Natural Region, in Podravska District. - Orpheus’ monument : The Orpheus monument stands on Slovenian Square in Ptuj. The marble tombstone was erected in the 2nd century by the mayor (duumvir) of Mark Valerius Ver in the then Roman province of Upper Pannonia. It is 5 meters high and 1.8 meters wide.
- Dominican monastery Ptuj : The Dominicans who came from Bruges in Carinthia were the first monks in Ptuj. The monastery and church were founded in 1230 by the widow of Frederick III. Ptujskog. She was assisted by Archbishop Eberhard II of Salzburg.
