Sag Harbor is a village in Southampton, Suffolk County, New York, United States.
The village was one of the first towns in the USA – after New York City – to have an important seaport. Whaling dominated between 1760 and 1850. Herman Melville mentions the place in this context in his novel Moby-Dick.
At the end of this period and into the 20th century, Sag Harbor became a destination for wealthy people to spend summer vacations there. Numerous celebrities now have their primary residence in Sag Harbor.
