Stára Ľubovňa is a town in Stará Ľubovňa district, Prešov region,in the historic Spisz region, in Northeast Slovakia.
The town is located on the banks of the Poprad River, 15 km south of the Polish border and 30 km from the High Tatras. Stará Ľubovňa is one of the oldest towns in the county of Spiš: an ancient historical county from the times of the Kingdom of Hungary and today the capital of the region.
The core of the old town is the rectangular St. Nicholas Square, which is surrounded by town houses from the 17th century. The fortifications that enclosed the square and the streets surrounding it are preserved in only two places. Also point of interest is the Greek Catholic Church, which was blessed by Pope John Paul II on April 22, 1990. The church is constructed in the shape of a crown and forms a religious complex with a cloister, a bell tower and an amphitheater.
