The Cono de Arita – Arita Cone is a large, almost perfect, conical geoform located at the southern end of the Salar de Arizaro ,in north-western Argentina.
The Arita Cone is a very charming geographical phenomenon, which overlooks the South of the Salar de Arizaro, 3,500 meters above sea level, with a height of 200 meters.If possible, visit the Cono de Arita in spring or autumn. Summer is the rainy season and in winter the paths leading to the cone are practically impassable.Numerous unknowns arise regarding its origin, also considering it as a possible Inca ceremonial center.The Cono de Arita used to be a religious place for the Indians of the region.
Today it is enjoyed by tourists who want to discover the treasures of the Argentine northwest.

- The Floating Volcano : Cono de Arita is called by many the floating volcano because of the optical illusion that people often experience when looking at the conical formation from afar. Against the vast salt flats, the volcano sometimes seems to float.
- To get to the Arita Cone, you will have to travel Route 51, which connects Salta with San Antonio de los Cobres, and then Route 27, in the direction of Tolar Grande.
