In Messina, Sicilia, Italy ,  in the water in front of the inhabited center of Messina, near what is still today  industrial area… stands still The “Rigoletto” ..an 78.6 meter long merchant ship, created in Kiel, West Germany, and launched on March 24, 1955, which could carry up to 291 beetles at a time,  along the route from -and for-  the United States and Canada., began to sail inland that same year.

On July 1, 1980, on the ship, while it was transporting used cars from Antwerp, Belgium, to Beirut in Lebanon, caught fire off Capo Spartivento. The crew was forced to abandon the boat that was towed from the Mediterranean to the port of Messina.

Today abandoned in the area of  the Real Cittadella, where, in shallow waters, it found its last port and is accessible for Recreational Dive and photo shooting.
