This natural attraction is known as Thor’s Well and is located near Spouting Horn, in Cook’s Chasm, within the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area.
Thor’s Well is a large hole on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The theory is that the well was originally a cave whose roof collapsed due to water erosion. This collapse left a circular hole at the top and bottom of the cave, reaching a depth of 6 meters. It owes its name to the Norse god of thunder Thor that, according to legend, he created the well after striking the earth.
To get close to Thor’s Well, you have to take the path known as the Captain Cook Trailhead from the visitor center.,It is part of the Siuslaw National Forest, administered by the United States Forest Service.
