Areni is a village in Vayots Dzor region in Armenia.
Areni located on the M2, the only expressway that connects Yerevan with the southern part of the country.
The village is known for the quality of its wines. Wine is a tradition that has been going on for more than three thousand years.
Since 2009, the village has held the annual Pan-Armenian Wine Festival, which has become traditional.

Highlights :
- There are 2 wine factories in the village of Areni, where the famous “Areni” wine is produced.
- In January 2011, archaeologists announced the discovery of the oldest known wine cellar. It contained a press, fermentation vats, jars and cups.
- The Sourp Astvatsatsin Church, (“Holy Mother of God”), church of Areni was built by the architect Momik in 1321.
- The village has an obelisk erected in honor of fellow villagers who died in the Great Patriotic War.
