The Temple of Garni is an Hellenistic-Ionic, pagan temple located in the village of Garni, in the Kotayk Province of Armenia.
It was probably built by King Tiridates I in the 1st century AD. C. as a temple of the solar god Mihr ,is the only surviving Hellenistic Greek temple in Armenia.
The temple is the most significant structure of the pre-Christian period in Armenia and is a symbol of this stage. In addition, it is the only classical colonnaded building in Armenia and the Caucasus republics, making it , together with the medieval Geghard monastery, one of the country’s main tourist attractions. Garni Temple is the must-see landmark of Armenia ,and a perfect place for good Instagram shots.
