The Col du Chaussy is a mountain pass located in France in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The Col du Chaussy located at an altitude of 1,531 meters on a north-south axis between the tip of Armelaz (1,840 m) to the west and Crêt Lognan (2,696 m) to the east, it connects the municipalities Pontamafrey-Montpascal and Montaimont on the eastern side of the Maurienne valley.
In 1707, the commune of Montpascal built a chapel on the pass under the name of the Visitation, today known as the Chapelle du Chaussy. Renovated in 1892 and then in 1992, it includes, among other things, a wooden statue of the Visitation from 1644.
The pass road was paved in 19904, a year before the construction of the first reception chalet dedicated to cross-country skiing,The pass is equipped with terminals which provide information on the altitude, the % slope and the number of km remaining.
Today The Col du Chaussy is best known for the hairpins at the start ,here You have the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful panorama over the Maurienne Valley with St-Jean-de-Maurienne as the main canvas.

- Characteristics : Elevation: 972 m ,Distance: 19.3 km , The Col du Chaussy connects Pontamafrey (499 m) in the Maurienne valley to the southern ramp of the Col de la Madeleine. Pontamafrey is 4 kilometers west of St-Jean-de-Maurienne, where the Croix de Fer begins.
- Cycling : The pass was crossed during the 19th stage of the Tour de France 2015 linking Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne to La Toussuire and was classified in the first category. It was also on the program for the 10th stage of the Tour de l’Avenir 2018.
- The Col du Chaussy is certainly not the most famous climb in the Maurienne valley , but it is well worth the detour.
