The Detwah Lagoon and Sand Dunes located in the northwest of the island of Socotra , in Yemen.
The lagoon is an important foraging and breeding area for waterfowl and other birds. the entire Socotra Archipelago was also designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for its value as a hotspot for biodiversity and endemism, and in 2008 a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the meantime, Yemen joined the Ramsar Convention in 2007, which designated approximately 580 hectares of the lagoon as a Ramsar area.
There is a camping site on the southeast side of the lagoon. Residents from Qalansyah use the beaches south of the lagoon as sports grounds , In this area you can swim, relax and take walks around the bay, for photography enthusiasts, this place offers incredible sand dune landscapes.
