Mustang Caves or Sky Caves, refers to an impressive complex of more than 10,000 man-made caves dug into the sandstone cliffs of Upper Mustang in northern Nepal.
These Unusual man-made grottoes They were originally tombs (3000 years ago), then used as housing (1000 years ago) and for religious purposes (600 years ago). Some of them received the status of monasteries, like the famous Luri Gompa, Chungsi and Niipuh. The most famous of which is located at an altitude of 100 meters. It can be reached along a narrow mountain path. The monastery consists of two chambers. The first houses a Buddhist temple, and the second contains famous frescoes.
Since 1996, UNESCO has included the site in its list of potential or experimental sites.
