Annascaul is a traditional village on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland.
The village wich located along the Wild Atlantic Way has several pubs, a primary school, restaurant, café, hall, park, church and two shops. Notable attractions in the area is : Inch Beach , Lough Anscaul or Annascaul Lake and Minard Castle , a medieval tower house. Undoubtedly the most internationally known resident born in this municipality is the sailor and polar explorer Tom Crean, who took part in the expeditions of the famous explorers Ernest Shackleton and Robert Falcon Scott and often showed himself to be a difficult man. Then, after retiring and returning to his hometown, he opened the South Polar Inn, where he worked until his death.
