The Diamond Beach is a black volcanic sand beach located in South-East Iceland, near Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.
A black sand beach dotted with huge blocks of sparkling ice is not a fictional picture from the Star Wars universe, such a place actually exists.
Small and rather large fragments of icebergs washed ashore by pulsating sea waves accumulate on the black beach. Ice floes floating on the surface of the water look like precious diamonds, justifying the name of the beach – Diamond.
The place has long been chosen by Hollywood filmmakers, and looking at the photo, it’s immediately clear why. Bond directors especially loved the lagoon with drifting ice – the actors of Agent 007 were featured here twice: on the set of A View to a Kill and Die Another Day.
Also, not far from Diamond Beach, the film “Batman Begins” and one of the parts of “Lara Croft” were filmed.
The amazing Diamond Beach attracts hundreds of thousands of photographers , Instagramers , Bloggers and nature lovers all year-round, it is decently one of the most incredible natural wonders of the world and a top-rated tourist stop in Southern Iceland.
