Gandom Beryan, is a plateau covered with volcanic black pebbles, covering an area of about 480 square kilometers, in Lut Desert – a large salt desert in the provinces of Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran.
The place called “Gandom Beryan” is located in a desert area bordering the “Lut Kerman” desert, east of the “Shur” river and covers an area of 480 square kilometers.Dark pebbles are one of the determining factors in the extreme ground temperatures recorded here because they absorb more sunlight while reflecting only some of it.
Especially in the summer, when temperatures reach 71 degrees Celsius, it is impossible to be in this area during the day. Only in winter and early spring can you visit this scorched desert.

- The Gandom Beryan plateau is considered the hottest place in the desert,it holds the record for the highest surface temperature – a temperature of 73.5°C was recorded on 17 July 2022.
