Manikaran is a small town in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, a state in the northern part of India ,in the Western Himalayas.
Manikaran is located in a valley between two rivers, the Parvati and the Beas, northeast of Bhuntar. It lies at an altitude of 1,760 m, approximately 45 km from Kullu town.
This small town is a pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Sikhs. According to Hindu tradition, it is from this place that Manu regenerated the human species after the flood, making Manikaran a sacred place.
