Christ the Redeemer is a monumental statue of Christ, dominating the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
The 30 meter high statue in Art Deco style dates from 1931. It became a model for numerous other large statues of Christ. There is a chapel in the approximately eight meter high base.
