Hallstatt is a picturesque lakeside village in the Salzkammergut, Upper Austria region of Austria.

Hallstatt is historically known for its salt production from local mines ,Thanks to trade, and the wealth that came from it, a culture developed which was called the Hallstatt culture.In 1997, the Cultural Landscape of Hallstatt-Dachstein, Salzkammergut, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.  It is the place where the Memory of Mankind is located, a time capsule inside a salt mine where current knowledge is stored.This lakeside village has cafes, bakeries, a supermarket and souvenir shops. Today Hallstatt is a major tourist attraction  due to its natural and built landscape and  considered the most beautiful village in Austria.
