Corniglia is one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre in Italy.
The village has about 250 inhabitants , politically forming a district of the municipality Vernazza in the Ligurian province of La Spezia, Italy. The only village of the Cinque Terre is not directly on the sea, but on a mountain promontory at about 100 m altitude, surrounded by three large vineyards and a steep cliff overlooking the sea.
The car-free village center, characterized by narrow streets, stretches along the main Via Fieschi road. The houses have a view towards this street and on the other side to the sea. Corniglia is mentioned in a famous novella Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio.Corniglia was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Corniglia can be reached from La Spezia along the provincial road number 32, called “Litoranea delle Cinque Terre”, then continuing on the SP 51, a beautiful panoramic road along the entire coast, and then descending on the SP 30 to the village./
By train :
Corniglia has a railway station on the Genoa-Rome Tyrrhenian route, in the local stretch between Genoa and La Spezia. For long-distance trains, the nearest reference station is La Spezia Centrale.
How to get around ; The only real way to enjoy the Cinque Terre at its best is on foot. The coastal path connects all five villages, allowing you to be able to walk from the first village to the last village in five hours.
