The Blooming Atacama Desert is a climatic phenomenon that occurs in the Atacama Desert, mainly in the Region of Atacama in Chile.
The phenomenon occurs when the rains germinate a large number of dormant bulbs and seeds with the arrival of spring, along with the proliferation of small species of insects, birds and lizards. This event, at its most spectacular, extends from the north of the city of Vallenar to the north of the city of Copiapó, on the coast, as well as inland and mountain areas, between September and November. One of the best landscapes of the flowery desert is the Copiapó-Vallenar route.
Desierto Florido will officially become a national park in 2023 ,the extremely interesting area has become a popular destination and the Chilean government has taken measures to protect this sensitive ecosystem.
