Red Canyon in the Eilat Mountains  – Israel ,  is a small gorge washed out in sandstone rocks by a mountain stream millions of years ago.the Red Canyon in Eilat has a depth of about 30 m, its length is 300 m.
Along the canyon, for the convenience of tourists, there are marked hiking trails along the entire route, with railings on dangerous zones. In some places the depth of the gorges reaches 30 meters; between the colored rocks there are so narrow areas that an adult can hardly walk there. The length of the Red Canyon is about 300 m.

Access : Coordinates: / The Red Canyon  is located about 20 km north of Eilat along highway 12. / The easiest way to get to the Red Canyon from Eilat is by car (20 minutes) or by bike . Bicycle rental in Eilat is also easy to find / get to the Red Canyon by public transport, you are interested in the shuttle bus number 392 (on the route Eilat – Mitspe Ramon, it stops at the canyon.

Highlights :

  •  There are two hiking trails along the canyon: 2 and 4.5 km. black and green. The green route is simple and fast. He will lead you through the main part of the canyon, once a river, and lead you to a second, wider mouth. The black route is more difficult. Along it you will first go up to the observation deck, from which a magnificent view opens up, and on the way back you will need to go down a rather steep descent.there are stairs or braces on all steep sections.
  •  It is strictly forbidden to be in the canyon during or after the rains, which are extremely rare in the area.
  •  Opening hours : You can visit the Red Canyon in Eilat any day, 24/7 – but it’s better in daylight! You can enjoy Red Canyon  absolutely free.
