The Sept-Iles lighthouse is located on Ile aux Moines ( an French island of the Sept-Îles archipelago in the English Channel. ), the only island in the Sept-Iles archipelago where you can disembark. It was built next to the ruins of an 18th century fort.
The first lighthouse, a round tower, was lit in May 1835 and then replaced in 1854 by a square tower 5 meters higher, attached to the first tower.
Destroyed on August 4, 1944 it was rebuilt in 1949 and re-lit in July 1952. In 1957, it used wind energy for power supply. Its wind turbine is the most powerful in a lighthouse in France.
The lighthouse is 20 meters high. It is built next to the ruins of an 18th century fort whose function was to combat piracy and smuggling.
