Ijen is the name of a volcanic complex in Java Timur, the easternmost province of the Indonesian island of Java.
Best known in this vast complex, whose base diameter is 75 km, is the bare-walled crater lake Kawah Ijen, described by some geologists and mineralogists as “the largest acid vat on Earth” and is also the largest acidified lake in the world. With its acidic turquoise water and violently steaming solfatars, it is an impressive tourist destination, but not always freely accessible for safety reasons.
There are many beautiful and spectacular natural spectacles on earth but nothing like the Blue sulfur flames in the Ijen caldera ,At night you can see this unique sulfur fire. It manifests itself in sapphire blue flames. If they are not extinguished, small rivers of fire made of liquid sulfur can form and flow into the crater lake.
