The Lotus Temple is a Baháʼí House of Worship located in Bahapur, a southern suburb of Delhi, India.
The Lotus Temple is one of the eight main Baha’i Houses of Worship. It is considered the ‘Mother Temple’ of South Asia. It is a monument which aims to be open to all beliefs. Regardless of its religious character. A huge building made of snow-white marble in the shape of a blooming lotus flower , is one of the most popular attractions among tourists in Delhi. Known as the main temple of the Indian subcontinent and the main attraction of the city ,the Lotus Temple has won several architectural awards and has been featured in numerous newspaper and magazine articles.
Since its opening in December 1986, the Lotus Temple has received over 100 million people, Indian and foreign, tourists and pilgrims, men and women of different beliefs and religions.
