Assilah, is a town and port in the prefecture of Tangier-Assila, in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region ,in the northwest of Morocco.
The main attraction of Asilah is the well-preserved old town ( Medina) with its southern European-Mediterranean-looking houses and streets. It is surrounded by a city wall with defensive towers that date back to the Portuguese occupation.
Today it is a seaside town very popular with Moroccans and Europeans. Every year, from June 20 to July 15, personalities, artists, politicians and visitors meet at the Hassan-II center and in the Raïssouli Palace for the annual cultural festival, called “Moussem”.

- Top sights in Asilah : The Portuguese ramparts – Among the most spectacular bastions and towers representing a Portuguese square, there are the Borj al-Bahr and the Borj al-Kamra./ The former Spanish Church of St. Bartholomew / The Palais Er-Raissouli, built in the Moorish style in 1909 / There are also graves of saints of Moroccan Sufis (Islamic mystics), which are still visited by locals today.
