The Calea Victoriei the oldest and most important boulevard in the historic city center of Bucharest in Romania.
Built in 1692 to connect the Old Royal Court and Mogoshaya Palace, it was paved with oak beams. The street received its current name in 1878 after the victory in the Romanian War of Independence. During the period between the two world wars, Calea Victoriei turned into one of the most fashionable streets in the city. Walk along this street from Victory Square to Unity Square and you’ll see some of the most stunning buildings in the city, including the Cantacuzino Palace, the historic Revolution Square, the Military Club, the headquarters of the European Community Commission and the National History Museum.
Calea Victoriei is the oldest street in Bucharest and today the most fashionable street, there are a number of retail stores, restaurants and fast food outlets.
