The Ponte dei Salti, also called ponte romano, is a pedestrian arched medieval bridge over the Verzasca river, in the municipality of Verzasca, in Switzerland.
The bridge dates back to the 17th century and is built on the site of an ancient Roman bridge. It was partially destroyed in 1868 and rebuilt in 1960.
Under the bridge, the Verzasca forms a pool up to 9 meters deep and approx. 120 meters long, which is very popular with water sports enthusiasts. Together with the clear water, the granite rocks carved by the river both below and above the water surface create a special visual experience. That’s why the Ponte dei Salti is one of the most famous and popular diving spots in the Verzasca Valley.
