The submerged forest is located in Lake Traful , a lake in the Los Lagos Department , a province of Argentina, located in the west of the country, at the northern end of Patagonia.
The submerged forest is located in Lake Traful, one of the famous 7 lakes on Route 40, located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, in Neuquén and dates back to 1960, when an earth movement caused the slope of the Bayo hill to slide, causing the forest to fall towards the bottom of the lake clinging to the stone block in which they were inserted. This is how the trees of this forest were submerged in Lake Traful.
