The Church of St. Bartholomew is a Catholic pilgrimage chapel on the western bank of Königssee, a lake in Bavaria in Germany.

The chapel was founded in the 12th century. In the 17th century it was decorated in Baroque style. Saint Bartholomew was considered the patron saint of shepherds and mowers.
Every year, on St. Bartholomew’s Day (24 August), the chapel is a pilgrimage destination. It is one of the oldest places of pilgrimage in Europe, whose origins certainly predate the 17th century
The chapel is part of a complex building which consists, in addition to the religious one, of an adjoining hunting lodge ,transformed into a hotel. There is also a business for tourists (sale of souvenirs, postcards, etc.) and an information office on the natural park.
The peninsula can only be easily reached by sailing on the lake, the route by land is very long and bumpy and involves a tiring walk in the Alpine area.
