The Cabo de São Vicente lighthouse is located at Cabo de São Vicente in the Algarve near Sagres in Portugal.
It stands at the most southwestern point of mainland Europe and was built in 1848. It is one of the largest Fresnel lenses in the world. Its beam of light reaches 32 nautical miles, i.e. almost 60 kilometers across the Atlantic. It is considered the brightest lighthouse in Europe.
The lighthouse is located 7 km west of Sagres. Its position attracts many visitors and the Portuguese Navy has built a visitor center and museum on the site. The lighthouse consists a favourite photo location.
