The Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) is a medieval covered wooden bridge over the Reuss in Lucerne, in Switzerland.
The bridge is named after the nearby St. Peter’s Chapel, it crosses the mouth of the Reuss into Lake Lucerne over a length of 204 meters. About halfway across the bridge stands an octagonal tower, the Wasserturm (Water Tower), one of the symbols of this Swiss city, it measures 34 meters high and is said to have been built around 1300. It formerly housed the city’s archives and precious objects, but also served as a prison and torture chamber. Currently, Wasserturm houses a souvenir shop and the guild hall of the artillerymen’s association.
