The Sultan Ahmed Mosque also known The Blue Mosque , is an Ottoman-era historical imperial mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey.

In Europe it is known as the Blue Mosque because of the abundance of blue and white tiles that adorn the dome and the upper part of the walls, but are younger than the building itself. The tiles on the lower part of the walls and the stands are more important in terms of art history: they come from the heyday of İznik faience and show traditional plant motifs in which green and blue tones dominate. The interior painting was changed to pink ,is the most beautiful and largest mosque in Istanbul, also famous for its harmony. It is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Islamic architecture worldwide.
