Borgarfjörður eystri or Borgarfjörður eystra is a fjord and a village in the municipality of Múlaþing in eastern Iceland.
Borgarfjörður eystra has a beautiful view of the mountains. The main mountains are Dyrfjöll, Staðarfjall, Geitfell and Svartfell.
The village is known in esoteric circles as the seat of the Icelandic Elven Queen and there are therefore many legends on the subject in the region. Even the painter Jóhannes S. Kjarval, who grew up here, immortalized the elf mound in the main altarpiece of Bakkagerði church.
Borgarfjordur Eystri is ne of the best places to see puffins in Iceland ,Many hiking trails lead between the mountains and coves in the nearby area.
